Cruel and cold is Old Man Lynch,
Brutal beyond compare;
Devoid of reason, Old Man Lynch,
Leading mobs that do not care.
He’ll chase a victim to the end
And hang him to a tree;
Into his body he will send
Savage bullets in high degree.
And then he’ll cut the carcass down,
And soak it well with oil,
And then he’ll call the whole blamed town
To watch the body boil.
With fury and passion and anger wild
Old Man Lynch is blind to right;
Laws of Justice he’s long defiled
With his vengeance black as night.
Now this old man has shamed our land
And brought upon us grief;
He should now be taken in hand
And his bold life be made brief.
Our brothers’ keepers, we surely are;
Life and liberty is each one’s due;
Justice and Protection let’s not mar,
To all God’s children, let’s be true.
